It’s finally here Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights and Theme Park Talk was there on opening night!

We begin the night with the “Bloody” Red Carpet and then take a peek into the Eyegore Awards Ceremony where accomplishments in the world of Horror cinema are awarded. The Eyegore Awards were presented by McKenzie Westmore from Syfy’s Face Off, and awards were given to Chad Michael Murray, Angelica Maria, Angelica Vale, Silas Weir Mitchell, as well as Guillermo Del Toro.

After the Eyegore Awards we head out into Universal Studios Hollywood and take a look at the Horrors that await you at this years Halloween Horror Nights!

Halloween Horror Nights 2012 at Universal Studios Hollywood has 7 Walk Through Attractions this year, Alice Cooper Goes to Hell in 3D, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Saw is the Law, Universal Monsters Remix, The Walking Dead: Dead Inside, Terror Tram: Invaded by the Walking Dead, La Llorona: Cazadora de Ninos, and Welcome to Silent Hill.

Today Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM), announced another world record addition to the parks coaster legacy with Full Throttle, the World’s fastest and tallest looping roller coaster coming to SFMM in 2013. There has never been a roller coaster like this before, with triple launch points, two forward launches at 70 miles per hour, a backwards launch out of a special effects tunnel, as well as a never-been-done before launch up and over a “top hat” which tracks over Full Throttle’s record breaking loop. Set in a newly themed 5 acre section , Full Throttle, will be located near the front of the park where you can experience high-energy thrills through fast-paced imagery, sound and lights. With the addition of this ride SFMM continues to be the “Coaster Capital of the World”, with more than any other theme park in the world at 18 coasters.

“Six Flags is known world-wide as the industry leader in next generation thrills. Riders are loaded onto the black and silver trains, then launched from 0-70 mph into the world record 160 foot loop. Then a banking turn right then left into the second inversion that drops you into the special effects tunnel. You are stopped in the tunnel and then launched in reverse to the high point of the previous loop that dropped you into the tunnel. After the high point you once again go forward, being launched magnetically. After a sharp turn you then speed over the “top hat” that goes OVER the worlds largest loop giving you an amazing view before you plunge back down into a 180 degree turn and return to the station.

Joining Tatsu – the tallest, fastest and longest flying coaster in the world, X2 – the world’s first and only 5^th dimensional coaster, Apocalypse – the next generation of wooden coasters and Goliath – the “giant among giants” mega coaster, Full Throttle makes a great addition the SFMM’s already breathtaking lineup of coasters.

Today in Santa Clara, California’s Great America has announced that in spring of 2013 the park will be opening the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in Northern California. Still under construction, Gold Striker promises to have high speed turns, drops, twists as well as a station fly-by all with an old western feel. Gold Striker stands at 108 feet tall at it’s highest point with a first drop of 105 feet set at a 50 degree angle. The ride hits speeds of 54 mph, with over two minutes of thrills, and 3,197 feet of track for your enjoyment.

California’s Great America Vice-President and General Manager Raul Rehnborg had the following comments;

“Gold Striker reflects our commitment to providing our guests with the best thrills and entertainment value in the region,”

“This ride was uniquely designed by melding together the highest performing and most exciting features of the very best wooden roller coasters in the world. Everyone who enjoys the thrills of riding a roller coaster will want to experience Gold Striker.”

To capture the spirit of the adventurous and pioneering gold seekers who came to California in 1849 the ride was named Gold Striker.

Gold Striker is California’s Great America’s 8th roller coaster, which will be located in the Celebration Plaza area and will wrap around the park’s Star Tower attraction. Great Coasters International, Inc. (GCI) of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, custom designed Gold Striker around the topography of California’s Great America.

There will be two trains that can hold up to 24 passengers each; four riders per car and six cars per train, allowing the coaster to handle 850 riders per hour. There is a required minimum height of 48 inches tall to ride. -It’s almost Halloween which means that it’s time to talk about Christmas! Disneyland has announced that the Candlelight processional an event that has been a Disney tradition since 1958 will be extended to 20 nights this year. The first two nights December 1 and 2 will be invitation only, but the remaining nights December 3-20 will be available for Annual Pass Holders and guests booking to be announced dining packages. HALLOWEEN HAUNT NEWS:
-Knott’s Scary Farm’s End Games contest that we spoke about on a past episode is now on! From now till August 24th you can send knott’s your best Apocalyptic warrior photo, in the words of Knotts “Gear up and send a picture of what you would look like if you were in The EndGames! We want to see your warrior face, your death scream, your battle ravaged face and your fierce determination!” There is no cash prize but the winner does get his or her photo as a poster inside of the maze End Games, the winner will also receive a copy of the poster. -Universal Studios Hollwood has announced two more mazes for this years Halloween Horror Nights. The first maze is called Universal Monster Remix. The description is Dubstep plus Monsters equals pulse punding horror. The Universal Monsters Remix maze will be located in the House of Horror’s building.

-Universal Studios Hollywood’s other maze coming to Halloween Horror Nights in 2012 will be “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Saw is the Law” maze. There has been a Texas Chainsaw Massacre maze before but it seems like this maze is based on the original films not the remakes. So if we count it up Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights so far has, Alice Cooper Goes to Hell in 3D, La Llorona, The Walking Dead, The Terror Tram; Invaded by the Walking Dead, Silent HIll, Universal Monster Remix, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Saw is the Law.

The Disneyland Gallery recently opened a new exhibit called “Disneyland Crowning Achievements; Creating Castles for Magical Kingdoms”. This exhibit features artwork for the Disney Castles all around the world including some design ideas that never made it to life.
