Your First Disneyland Trip: A Short & Sweet Guide

Posted on May 16, 2025

Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Planning your first visit is exciting, and a few key tips will make your adventure seamless and unforgettable.

Timing is Your Best Friend

Disneyland is busiest on weekends, holidays, and during summer. For shorter lines, aim for weekdays and arrive right when the park opens. Being there before the park opens is what is called the “Rope Drop”. Trust me, I know not many can herd the entire family to the park at crack of the dawn, but if you can, it is SO worth it. You’ll be amazed at how many popular rides you can experience in the first few hours before crowds build.

Plan Your Must-Dos

With so much to see, it’s helpful to prioritize. Download the official Disneyland app to check real-time wait times, mobile order food to skip lines and make dining reservations. Must-ride classics would be different for everyone, but our favorites are Pirates of the Caribbean, and the newly opened Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Savor the Magic

The food is part of the experience! Don’t miss iconic treats like the Dole Whip, Mickey-shaped pretzels, and churros. For a quick service meal, mobile ordering through the app will save you valuable time.

Soak in the Celebration

Your visit coincides with Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration, adding extra magic throughout the parks. Look for special decorations, unique merchandise, and dazzling nighttime shows like the Paint the Night parade.

Embrace the Vibe

Finally, remember to enjoy the moment. You don’t have to do it all. Take time to people-watch on Main Street, U.S.A., chat with the friendly cast members, and let the Disney magic sweep you away. Your first visit is all about creating joyful memories that will last a lifetime.
